Old friend
Last Friday, pishi and I along with a couple of other friends had the chance to meet up with one of our old friend who used to live in Toronto before but moved to San Fransisco a year ago. It was fun to catch up and hear the success of this friend. It was a while since the last time we sat down for a real interesting conversation. Of course Marche's food and great desert amplified the fun!
Last night pishi and I went to watch the unedited wedding video of one of my friend's wedding who we missed in summer. It was great to meet up with another group of friends and see the great time they had at the wedding. The next two weeks each weekend we will be partying at my company's holiday party and pishi's company party and hopefully we go for a week of vacation down south some where warm to revive ourselves and get ready for the big "W". Already it has snowed and got pretty cold last week, -16 with windchill!
The last two weeks I spend time with EHS group. I learned about occupational health and safety act and its guild lines and regulations. MOL inspections, MOE expectations and the waste disposal at our facilities. I learned about ergonomics and how to conduct accident investigations and write reports and fill the WSIB or other insurance forms and etc. The most refreshing part of the past two weeks was that we learned about experiences of a manager about successful supervisors. We wrote a number of quizzes and assignments in the past week and interestingly I learned about what a supervisor says or not says and its implications to his/her team. I guess the hardest part of being a supervisor for me is to discipline. I have a difficult time micro managing a team, specially about their non-technical related affairs.
For the next 8 weeks I will spend time in production and to that end I have to go to work very early in the morning! Imagining that I have to be at work at 6:00 am is still unreal for me! I guess the best part is that I will leave early!
